Payback was okay, nothing special. It was exactly what I expected. Once again I have to say it was definitely worth the viewing, however I could not help but notice that most of the matches had no real big fight hype. Even the main event felt like to people that really had no problems with each other having a match. I miss the days when wrestlers acted like they truly hated each other. There is no real heat anymore. When Stone Cold went at with Vince McMahon it felt genuine. Everything HHH did during the Attitude era felt genuine. Now everything is just let's get through this pay per view and then we will move on to the next feud. If WWE can find a real feud it would help out a lot in the story line. As for payback, there really was no story line. For example, Y2J vs. Dean Ambrose had o heat to it at all. There is no history between the two. The match itself wasn't bad at all, I just could not feel any tension between them.
The main event between Reigns and AJ Styles felt pointless, yet they still put on a great show. Some will argue that AJ carried Roman but that is just the Roman haters mouthing off as they usually do. Roman had a good match but of course most people wo't give him credit for it. The only thing I get from the AJ Styles vs. Roman Reigns story line is that they are setting up a Bullet Club vs. The Shield feud. This could be in the works by Summer Slam or Survivor Series.
The best match was The Womens Championship match between Charollette and Natalya. They both got a good pop from the audience and Charollette seems to be picking up on her dads heelisms. She looks like a champion, walks like a champion, and does everything that a heel champion should do. For example in the match at Payback she suplexed Natalya into the ropes making sure Natalya's injured leg hit the ropes on she landed on impact. The other story line in this match was Brett Hart making an appearance and attacking Ric Flair at the end of the match as he and Natlaya put Ric and Charlotte into the sharp shooter.
The ending of the match was a throw back to the Montreal screw job as the referee rang the bell signaling a submission tap out when Natalya never tapped. So now we have the Chicago screw job as well Some people thought it was little corny but I liked it.
As for Sammy Zayn and Kevin Owens I feel though they were just as good as I expected. They had a great match. But this is not nothing out of the ordinary.
Kevin Owens is becoming the best Male heel on the roster. If it wasn't for the fact that I know that Seth Rollins coming back soon, I would say strap the belt on Owens right now.
Over all I give PAYBACK a 6 out of 10. It would have been higher if Cesaro had won the INT Title and WWE loses points for having the U.S Title in a pre show. WTF is WWE doing to the U.S Title ? !!
